The Batcave was the sanctuary and base of operations for Batman and the Bat Family. It was located directly underneath Wayne Manor and was discovered by Bruce Wayne when he was young. It stored the Bat Family's gear along with trophies that Batman had collected throughout the years.

Prior to the events of Gotham Knights, Bruce was seen in the Batcave recording video messages for his close allies, providing instructions and guidance in the case of his death. He was interrupted by the Bat Family who wanted him to go up and have dinner with them at Wayne Manor.

Some time afterwards, Batman was ambushed in the cave by a powered-up Ra's al Ghul who shot him in the chest and spine with a poison tipped crossbow bolt. Their final battle was brutal and intense, destroying the majority of the cave along with the Batwing and Batcomputer. After realizing Ra's would kill the Bat Family and destroy Gotham City, Batman initiates Code Black, sealing himself and Ra's in the self-destructing Batcave. The explosives decimated the Batcave and all of the equipment inside, as well as Wayne Manor.
